OS RESIDENCE GARDEN

Bragança Paulista, São Paulo, Brazil

by Isabel Duprat

Arriving at a place that welcomes us is always a good time, a cherishing moment, the beginning of a good life.

I made a cheerful entrance wishing to welcome the family through a garden between the two blocks of the house by Jacobsen Arquitetura. I designed a wooden walkway floating over a water mirror, like a pier running the entire length of the house until reaching the pool at the front of the property, varying its function now as a passage, sometimes as a living area. The gentle movement of the water is interspersed with jabuticaba trees, pomegranates and colorful foliage that are discovered as we are led to the main door. A freshness for hot summer days.

The geography of the lot enables great views that were preserved at the same time as the privacy of the house was ensured through trees of vertical structure and fruit hedges. Tall grasses of different heights interspersed with light yellow Tabebuias and Schinus molle (aroeira salsa) ensure the privacy in the pool from the street. Lawn areas have been reserved for children. The two accesses by car were blended with the garden through the cobblestone with grass joints.
